The night became a reality thanks to the Rural Communities Grant of $648 administered by CWA, $500 from the Department of Primary Industries for family gatherings, via Don Burrows, and the Lions Club of Berowra, a Sydney-based club which donated $4000 to District 201 N4 to be shared in $500 lots between Lions Clubs wanting to run a drought relief program for their community.
Other clubs to use this money include Ardlethan and Hillston.
This goes to show that city people really do care for their country counterparts.
The ticket draw was a huge success throughout the night with 36 primary school students walking away with smiles on their faces after winning remote controlled motorbikes and cars donated by an importer to distribute among the community.
The music provided by Kevin Miles, Roy Duffell, Peter Wythes, Leanne Rice and Gill Morton was enjoyed by the crowd.
The Leeton Lions worked tirelessly all night and thanks to Brian Collins, Joe Broso and his son, Joseph, for their wonderful patience and time with the train that went non-stop for five-and-a-half hours.
