Barley growers enjoy beer tasting evening

03 Mar, 2010 11:02 AM
LOCAL barley growers gathered at the Coleambally Community Club last week on the invitation of Akazien Hof Grain and Fertiliser to sample the final product of their grain.

Along with Barret Burston Malting, Steve and Monika Burgess hosted the evening which gave growers an insight into the process of grain to product.

There were also representatives on hand from Sapporo Breweries in Japan.

This brewery is using Coleambally-grown barley and prides itself on promoting the fact that their beer can be traced back through the production line right to the grower of the barley.

Around 70 farmers attended the night which also included beer tasting, where eight different brews were offered and matched to food.
