The week, which kicked off on Sunday, is an incentive designed to celebrate and recognise older people and the contributions they make to the community.
“Seniors Week is the biggest celebration for older people in the southern hemisphere,” Minister for Ageing Kristina Keneally said.
“With hundreds of planned free and discounted activities and events, it is a great opportunity for the 1.3 million older people living in NSW to get active, learn something new and live life full.”
Local events will start today with the luncheon at Coleambally Bowling Club at noon, sponsored by Murrumbidgee Shire in recognition of 50 years of Senior Week.
“For 50 years, NSW Seniors Week has provided opportunities for older people to meet and learn something while enjoying life,” Minister for ageing Kristina Keneally said.
NSW Seniors Week is funded by the NSW Government and organised by the Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care (DADHC).
