Colly prepares for b’day festivities

06 Feb, 2008 10:28 AM
With street parades to games, an outdoor musical concert with bonfire and fireworks, cocktail party, art and static displays, marathon runs, a 50/50 dance, pet show, guided bush walks, the running of the Coly Gift race, markets, farm stays and much more, the committee has now set a calendar of events for local people to see.

Still in draft stage, the calendar is available for the general public to peruse and show expressions of interest of conducting their own event to be added onto the calendar, as well as helping out at any one of the pre-planned events.

Local business houses as well as groups and organisations should start planning their street parade float for the opening of the celebration weekend and all the community is being called upon to hold stalls etc at the Music in the Park Bonfire and Fireworks display to be held on the corner of Kingfisher Avenue and Pine Drive.

Other people are required to help at a multitude of events and everyone is asked to collect a calendar, discuss events with organisations or clubs, or individually, contact Jane McMillan on 69 54 4481 (business hours) to volunteer their time.

As well as the calendar, invitations have been printed of which local people may pick up and send away to friends and relatives, former Coleambally residents and invited guests. The calendar has been specifically designed to invite all to join in the four-day celebrations and is available to the general public to collect and send away. It also contains accommodation directory contact numbers. These may be collected from either Miss Jane’s Wardrobe or at Stitch in Time or Brolga Place during business hours.

All in all, the monster celebrations are shaping up to be huge and all general public should start planning for the event.

Any enquiries or further information is available from Jane McMillan 69 54 4481.
