Cory’s community spirit is rewarded

27 Jan, 2010 09:55 AM
IT HAS been a huge year for the Coleambally young citizen of the year.

Even on the day of receiving this prestigious award, Cory McMillan was in Sydney on duty with the St John’s Ambulance Service at Australia Day Events.

Cory has represented Coleambally in a number of leadership and community roles throughout the year, including volunteering with the Rural Fire Service at local community events as well as outside the community, including the Victorian bush fires in February.

As a St. John’s Ambulance volunteer he has also served

at many community events both locally and further afield.

Cory also competed in the Lions’ Youth of the Year Quest, which he won at local level and went on to represent at district level, where he won the public speaking event.

To top things off for Cory he has done all this whilst also studying and completing his HSC.

Cory is now heading off to Charles Sturt University, where he will study nursing along the path to his dream of one day being a paramedic.
