PARTS of the Coleambally township are getting a major electricity upgrade as part of Country Energy’s $700 million investment to improve the electricity network this year.
Country Energy’s Darlington Point crew is working on a $100,000 project that will strengthen the power infrastructure in the Bluebonnet Crescent area of Coleambally town.
Country Energy southern regional general manager David Nardi said crews would work between now and the end of February to complete the work – reinforcing the power supply to Coleambally and surrounds as part of the essential service provider’s commitment to providing value and service to customers in the area.
“The Darlington Point team will replace around 300 metres of powerlines and associated equipment along Bluebonnet Crescent and Corella Street, increasing the capacity of the powerlines to provide for projected residential growth in the area,” Mr Nardi said.
“This project is just one of many Country Energy has planned to help better manage the distribution of power in and around Coleambally – residents are set to benefit from improved power quality and reliability once the work is complete.”
Crews will also take the opportunity to install a new high-voltage substation while they’re working in the area, further increasing the capacity of the local network.
Country Energy is advising residents that several planned power interruptions may be necessary to complete the work safely - any customers affected will be notified individually.
Work has already commenced and is expected to be completed by the end of February, weather permitting.
