THE Murrumbidgee Shire is honoured to welcome Susie Elelman as ambassador for the Australia Day Celebrations for 2012.
Residents are gearing up for a day of celebrations starting at 8am with a delicious cooked breakfast held at McInnes Square, Coleambally.
We will find out who makes the best lamington in Coly, with the best lamington competition for cooks of all ages.
Entries to be in by 8.30am at the shire office meeting room, to allow time for judging.
For the kids there is the best decorated bike/scooter with an Aussie theme that will be held near the Brolga on the Mulga gallery.
sterpieces the kids have come up with in the Australia Day colouring competition and creative writing competition.
The formal gathering at Coleambally begins at 9am with the presentation of the Australia Day awards.
The final draw for the Grow Coly competition will be drawn after close of the Coleambally Australia Day awards.
Two lucky entrants will walk away with travel vouchers, together worth $15,000, thanks to the Coleambally Community Bank.
Darlington Point celebrations and presentations begin at noon at the Darlington Point CWA Park followed by a barbecue lunch.
Children’s activities include traditional games such as the egg and spoon and three-legged races.
After the celebrations the Punt Hotel will provide entertainment and live music by local band DP.
