Local honour for Stuckings

27 Jan, 2010 10:43 AM
COMMITMENT, passion and love of Coleambally are just some of the words used to describe this year’s Coleambally Citizen of the Year.

Lynne Stuckings’ continued commitment to the local community and its residents shine through in all her endeavours.

From irrigation farmer and business owner, to chairperson of the chamber of commerce and board member of Cypress View Lodge, Mrs Stuckings provides leadership and networking skills, giving a strong voice to the Coleambally community.

“It is a great honour to recieve this award,” Mrs Stuckings said.

“It is humbling to be recognised amongst a group of well-deserving nominees.”

One of Mrs Stuckings greatest achievement in 2009 was the organisation and running of CREATE week.

This initiative brought a group of Wollongong University students to town to work with residents and develop an ongoing management plan to help secure the future of Coleambally.

As the chair of the CREATE reference group, Mrs Stuckings put a lot of hard work and effort into the planning co-ordination and promotion of the week to the community, local, state and federal governments and other key stakeholders.

Due to the hard work and effort put in by Mrs Stuckings, this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a small rural town was embraced by the whole community.
