THE Nationals candidate for Riverina, Michael McCormack spent last Thursday in Coleambally and Darlington Point.
Mr McCormack spent the morning in Coleambally and the afternoon in Darlington Point, calling on business owners and local residents.
“I was very appreciative for the many individuals who took the time to speak with me as I know how busy everybody is,” Mr McCormack said.
“Overwhelmingly, I spent the time talking with individuals about The Nationals’ policy for securing our communities’ water supply, which includes unfreezing the $5.8 billion set aside for water infrastructure, only using water buybacks as a last resort and ensuring that STL’s take proper account of social and economic conditions.
“The people of Coleambally and Darlington Point are in the midst of a very worrying time, and I can only imagine the stress many families and business owners are under.
“I can assure the community though, that The Nationals will not support any new water plan that hurts irrigation communities in the Riverina.”
Mr McCormack also attended a farewell lunch in honour of former Member for Riverina, Kay Hull, hosted by Coleambally Irrigation.
