 Peacocks are proud new parents

Peacocks are proud new parents

03 Feb, 2010 11:03 AM
MANY residents of Bluebonnet Crescent are all too familiar with the town’s peacock, Percy, who frequents the street and has befriended many residents.

However, some people in Coleambally may not know that Percy has a partner, Polly.

Polly doesn’t often wander out into the street like Percy, but usually stays around the forest area behind Bluebonnet Cres.

Over the Christmas period the couple welcomed new baby chicks, two of which have survived and can now be seen around the area behind the houses, although they are a bit more shy than their father.

Love them or hate them, the peacocks have well-and-truly made themselves at home.

Many visitors to town have enjoyed seeing the family, however, some of the residents in the street are not quite so happy, especially as Percy likes to make himself at home on top of cars, sheds and houses.
