THE Coleambally pool remains closed this week amid fierce speculation as to why.
With little communication from Muirrumbidgee Shire Council, local residents have started to form varied opinions as to why the pool remains shut.
Local man and former pool manager Paul Carroll has done some investigations of his own and believes the pool has been shut due to problems with the amount of chlorine that has gone into the water.
“More than four times the amount of chlorine normally used has been put into the pool already this season,” Mr Carroll told The Observer.
Mr Carroll has been talking with council staff over the last week and believes that there is a cover-up happening.
He has written a
letter to the editor in today’s paper that outlines his theories and asks whether the
problem will be fixed or will there will be more “head-ducking and foolish accusations”.
Council’s general manager Paul Goodsall also spoke to The Observer on Monday and said the pool closure had occurred due to the need to drain cloudy water from it.
“The pool was
repainted during the
off-season and something has caused a breakdown in this paint,” Mr Goodsall said.
“This caused the water to become cloudy and we were then forced to drain the pool.”
