AS GROWERS in Southern NSW prepare to market their winter grain crops, the Ricegrowers’ Association of Australia (RGA) will kick off the next Farmfit series with a seminar to arm growers with the best grain marketing tools for the 2008 winter crop season.
Over the Counter Commodity Derivatives – Swaps and Options is a tailored briefing session coordinated by the RGA, in conjunction with Rabobank.
The breakfast seminars will provide growers with
valuable and practical information about marketing their
winter grain crops.
“The Grain Marketing Tools seminar was established in response to calls for more information from growers,” RGA president Les Gordon said.
“Unfortunately, the expected 2007 spring rains did not eventuate and many growers who were left unable to meet the conditions of their grain contracts found themselves in a difficult financial position.”
Rabobank head of rural treasury sales Barry Slattery will share his 30 years of financial experience at the seminar.
The Farmfit program has been running since November
2007, with more than 250 rice growers attending information sessions.
The seminar will run at the Darlington Point Club from 7.30am to 9am on July 15.
