Drought, water trading and the economic development of the town will be in the spotlight at a meeting chaired by New South Wales Farmers Association president Jock Laurie to be
held at the Coleambally Bowling Club tomorrow at 7.30pm.
The meeting is open not only to members of the NSW Farmers Association but any other members of the community who are interested in what these speakers have to say.
Professor Mike Young, a member of the Wentworth Group of Scientists, has played a key role in the development of water policy in Australia and has been identified as one of the most influential people in water policy reform. He was awarded the Land and Water Australia Eureka Award for Water Research and a Centenary Medal for his contribution to environmental economics. Prof Young has been influential in research projects, which will help implement effective water management strategies across Australia.

n Chris Biesaga of the Murray Darling Basin Commission will touch on water trading, dam capacities and future government policy.
n Trevor Sargeant, development officer of Hastings Port Macquarie City Council will look at the development of our town and models that can be used in our region.
n Jan Barnes and Louise Colinber will look at how to fund a community economic development officer.
n Jock Laurie, president of NSW Farmers Association, will discuss issues and support for members.
n Graham Christie, rural financial counsellor, will look at assistance measures available for irrigators.
n Bill Booth, Booth and Associates will discuss progress on ethanol and dairy project and advantages for the future.
