Aunty Jean’s is an educational and preventative program on chronic illnesses and the benefits of an active lifestyle.
The program will be held at the Waddi Hall from 10.30am to 2pm.
“Karen will teach the participants how, to read food labels so they know the healthy range of saturated fat, sugar, salt and fibre,” Aboriginal health education officer Janene Chitts said.
“She will also show picture cards of various foods and drinks so people can see for themselves how much sugar and fat are in these products.”
Fay Walsh from Coleambally will lead the group in a gentle exercise class and Greater Southern Area Health Service staff will perform health checks, such as blood pressure, weight, height and
random blood sugar testing, on participants .
Sue Ekin will also be providing foot care (removing dead/cracked skin, filing toe nails and foot and lower leg massage).
Everyone is welcome to attend. A lucky door prize is available and lunch is provided.
