TT Café isn’t closing, but you can help

14 May, 2008 12:41 PM
As the town would know, Elouera Association (Inc) took over running and management of the café in 2005 after managing it on contract for some time before that.

We were brought in to prevent the inevitable closure of the service for people with a disability in Coleambally. If we hadn’t become involved, the doors to TT’s would have closed on July 15, 2005.

Since then we have invested huge amounts of funds into upgrading the facilities. We have replaced the benches with stainless steel ones, installed new equipment such as grills, chip warmers, pasta boilers, burger makers, and much more.

We have replaced floor coverings in the shop and kitchen areas and plan even more the future.

What’s new is better food service facilities out front with the main Bain Marie and pie warmer being added, changes in how we package and sell cakes and slices, more instant food for those on the run and a new menu that will speed up service to those choosing to take a seat.

You will still be able to purchase home made and professionally made foods and our coffee will still be as good as ever. Watch out for our new homemade sausage rolls.

We’re also planning a refurbishment out the front of the shop, adding an outdoor dining area with new tables and chairs and increased paving – all portioned off – to create

a true street dining experience.

Elouera TT’s Café is not closing down. We did consider a four day week due to the substantial economic turndown that Coleambally has been affected by, however, this is not an option we are considering at this time.

We are confident that with the changes we are making and with the full support of the town, we will be stronger than ever.

We’re not asking for donations, but if everyone in town came in for a meal, a cake or a coffee once per month then the employment aspirations of the girls will be guaranteed well into the future.

TT’s Café employs a fantastic group of ladies with a disability, they are the reason Elouera Association (Inc) became involved, and we have invested tens of thousands of dollars into TT’s because it is such an important community asset that delivers quality employment outcomes to the employees with a disability working there.

We remain committed to this objective but we need the full support of the town to succeed.

Should any members of the public wish to know more about our operations and what we do locally and in other towns, feel free to call Allan Young at our Coota-mundra Office on 6942 6586.
