The day was played out between 15 sides making for a great day, with teams coming from Griffith (4) and Darlington Point.
Darlington Point punters were the reigning champions, but back to back champions they were not going to be, as they were knocked out in the second round.
The first round of games was fast and furious but this seemed to slow the second round of games.
This could have been due to the heat or the happy hour beverages at the Brolga.
Some good displays were shown, with Phil Burge of Burgies Brigade taking out best batting award and Bart Westerlaken of Jukesboxheads taking out the best pitching award.
Most sixs went to Paul Plummer of Coro Cougars and worst bowling to Nathan Jones of Jukesboxheads.
The consolation champions trophy was played out between Burgies Brigade and Dave’s Doggies with Burgies Brigade were run-out winners.
The champion’s final was between two time winner Jukesboxheads and Coro Cougars.
With superior stamina and a choice of 15 players the Cougar’s prevailed to once again take the trophy out of town for the third time in the competition’s eight year history.
The challenge is on again next year for Coleambally to restore some pride. Thanks for the day must go to Coro for bringing three sides to make the day and also for everyone else for participating.
Thanks to the Junior Cricket Club, Chris Noack and Mick Breed for their great effort in organising and running the bar and barbecue and their clean-up with co-workers and helpers.
Kate Jones won the Junior Cricket raffle of a Matthew Hayden signed bat.
Also a thanks to the sponsors for the day, who donated prizes for the major raffle and also for prizes for the day; Brolga Hotel, Hunter Grain, Coly Grain, Tim’s Meats, Sam’s Party Hire, Footy Focus, Kelly’s Supermarket, Coly Roadhouse, Tops Pizza, CIA Tyres, Riverina Machinery, S&K Engineering and Coleambally Community Bank. Without your help this day would not be as successful as it is.
Also thanks to Andy from Murrumbidgee Shire for getting No 2 oval in shape to play on and his extra efforts around the grounds.
All-in-all thanks to anyone who helped on the day and hope to see everyone back next year. Hopefully some new local teams will try and win back the title of Brolga Hotel Six-A-Side Champions.
