THE Coleambally Exies C Grade met the Leagues team last Saturday in round 14 of the Griffith and District Cricket competition. The game was played in Coleambally but due to the recent rain number three oval was unsuitable, so the game was played at the Coleambally Central School (CCS) oval.
Coleambally batted first with Jacob Breed and Cameron McFadyen opening. Unfortunately the pair did not stay long at the crease with McFadyen caught for two and Breed bowled for six.
Andrew Noack and Adam Mannes were the next batters with both finding the boundary and pushing the score along. Mannes departed for 12, bringing Sam Casey to the crease.
Noack departed (9) before drinks and at the drinks break Coly were 4 - 52.
After the break Todd Clark let loose with some wonderful shots, including two sixes.
Casey was caught on 18, and Clark continued with valuable assistance from Shawn Iddles.
Clark was bowled for 33, which bought the big hitting Mitch Wiseman to the crease. Wiseman hit two massive sixes in his score of 17.
Lachlan Dunbar and Jack Weymouth-Smith were the next in to bat, getting a lot of bat on ball, and at the dismissal of Dunbar, Chris Noack went in to bat.
Coleambally were all out in the thirty-ninth over for 131 with Noack and Weymouth-Smith both on naught not out.
Andrew Noack and Cameron McFadyen opened the bowling with Noack getting a wicket in his first over.
Unfortunately the Coly boys dropped a few catches which gave the Leagues batters chances which they took advantage of.
Three good catches were taken in the innings; a ripper from Chris Noack, a hard hit ball by Jack Weymouth-Smith and an outfield catch by Sam Casey.
With Leagues at 2 - 82 at drinks the Coly boys dug deep but did not have any luck slowing the scoring. Noack picked up a second wicket, and McFadyen and Mannes were also wicket takers.
Extras were costly for the Coly boys, and Leagues won the game in the thirty-fith over, with four wickets down for 137.
C Grade cricket would like to thank the CCS for the use of the oval, and their sponsors Tims Meats and Coly Roadhouse.
