Saturday saw the second leg of the double-header, with the locals hosting Hanwood at home on an ordinary outfield full of rabbit burrows and with little grass cover.
After again winning the toss the Nomads had no hesitation in having another bat first on a good pitch.
Alistair Burge looked to be carrying on from his heroics of the night before, combining with Graham O’Connell to take the score to 27 before O’Connell was out for 10.
Bernie Cullen joined Burge and the signs were looking ominous, when Burge was out slashing a wide delivery for 23.
Shane Hutchinson took over where Burge left off, combining well with Cullen until he was dismissed for 18.
Justin Redman joined Hutchinson and these two upped the pace taking the Nomads to the drinks break at 3-84.
The barrage of shots did not stop there as these two took the score to 120 before both departed in quick succession, with Hutchinson stumped for 24 and Redman out for 21.
This brought John Byrne and Andrew Boal together, with the attitude of “what they can do, we can do better”, hitting the Hanwood bowlers to most parts of the field and demoralising the opposition.
Boal was next out for a well-played 38 and Hanwood thought it would get a reprieve from the big hitting.
But this was not to be, with Shane “Bam Bam” Pound next to the crease.
He pounded the bowling, scoring 36 at nearly two runs a ball and nearly overtaking Byrne’s score but Byrne stood tall, top scoring for the day with 39 before being bowled in the last over.
Josh Shaw and Pound were the last two batters for the Nomads, both not out on zero and 36 respectively, giving the Nomads a commanding 7-226 off the 40 overs.
With another huge score the Nomads were again confident and with Hanwood feeling demoralised it did not put up much of a fight.
The Nomads’ bowlers did not hold back, putting the opposition through the cleaners, dismissing it for a poultry 69 and giving the home team victory by a massive 156 runs.
Andrew Boal took out the Magic’s Bobcat man of the match award.
These two wins, both with bonus points puts the Nomads top of the competition ladder and a full seven points clear of the next team.
Next week the locals will play another day nighter on Friday at the Exies oval against the Exies.
The club will be holding a Christmas barbeque this Wednesday after training for C and B grade players.
