The Nomads won the toss and elected to bat, with Josh Shaw and Justin Redman opening proceedings.
Things were going well until the score was 17 and Josh Shaw was out for seven.
This brought Alistair Burge to the crease and he and Redman had the scoreboard ticking over nicely taking the score to 50 before Burge was given LBW for 13.
Jack Painting then strode to the crease but Redman was next to go for a well-compiled 29 leaving the Nomads at 3-60.
Captain Jones then joined Painting, with Jones getting his runs quick until Painting couldn’t back up his effort from last week and was bowled for four.
Usual opener Dave Dunbar joined Jones and they took the score to 90 before Jones fell for 18.
Hodgson then joined Dunbar and they looked comfortable taking the score to 118 before Hodgson was bowled off a shocking shot.
Tom Fuller was next but as usual didn’t last long and was out for a duck.
This brought the master blaster Stimson to the crease and he slayed the ball to all parts of the ground, with his vast array of shots and with Dunbar still quietly accumulating his runs to the score of 169 before Dunbar was stumped for a well earned 38.
McDonald Fuller then joined Stimson, with Stimson still creating havoc before he was out for a quick 32 and the Nomads 8-176.
Keith Burge was next in but his innings was short lived going for 1.
This left McDonald Fuller stranded on zero not out and the Nomads all out for 178 in the 35th over.
The Nomads were quietly confident about defending this total and it didn’t take long for the wickets to fall, with Jones picking up two quick wickets followed by one from Shaw and then another to Jones leaving the Cougars at 4-38.
Tom Fuller also picked up one to have the Cougars 5-50.
The Cougars then sent out a rear end guard taking the score to 88 before super spinner Alastair Burge was unleashed, with him and Hodgson cleaning up the tail end with the Cougars all out for 119 giving the Nomads a convincing 59 run win.
Bowling for the day was N. Jones 4-1-17, J. Shaw 4-0-18, T. Fuller 4-1-17, S. Fuller 3-0-15, A. Burge 7-3-28 and M. Hodgson 4-1-9.
This week sees the Nomads take on Puka Puka at Griffith Showgrounds and a win will secure a spot in the finals for the Nomads.
