THIS Sunday will see the playing of the annual Coleambally Cricket Club Brolga Hotel Australia Day Six-a-Side tournament.

The full quota of teams have nominated, with a large number of locals as well as teams travelling from Gretta in Victoria, Lake Cargelligo, Temora, Albury, Griffith and Yenda.

All teams will be trying to wrestle the winner’s trophy from Coro which has held it for the last two years.

The day will kick off at 9am and all sides are guaranteed two games, with the winner of the first round going through to the champions trophy and the losers moving forward to the consolation trophy.

Both the main trophy and the consolation will be played in knockout format after the first round, with the last team standing taking away the trophies.

A full bar and barbecue will be available during the day, as well as raffles run throughout.

A presentation will be held at the completion of the two finals at the Brolga Hotel at 7pm.

As well as a presentation of medals there will also be a cricket memorabilia auction. Some of the items on offer include a Brett Lee signed shirt, Mike Hussey full-sized signed bat and a Mitchell Johnson signed ball in a display case.

The swimming pool will also be open to beat the heat and will be selling ice creams, chips and lollies.

As an added novelty, ex-local Carl Chirgwin will be commentating from the “central umpiring position”, so everyone can hear what is going on out in the middle.

Everyone is encouraged to come down to number two and three ovals and enjoy a great day of hit and bash cricket and get a good laugh along the way.
