THE Coleambally Blues played Henty at home on Saturday with the senior side snatching victory in the final seconds of the match.

In a thrilling game, the Blues came away one-point winners, 51-50.

Henty played well early in the game to go to the first break leading 19-1.

In the second quarter Coly kicked four important goals to get back in to the match to go to the main break only six points down.

In the third quarter, Henty increased its lead by six points to enter the final term with a 12-point advantage.

The Blues left it until late in the quarter to draw even with Henty and set up a nail-biting finish, with Jason Heath taking a mark in the forward 50 in the dying seconds before kicking an all-important point to give Coly the win.

Coach Shaun Brooker said after the game it was great to finally beat Henty after plenty of close encounters with it in the past three years, and prove Coly could win the close games.

Best players were Tony Pound, Tom Burge, Graham O’Connell, Ryan Bull, Shane Pound and David White.

Goals went to S Pound (4), J Heath (2) and T Pound.

The reserves may have been beaten 100-42 by Henty but it was a good game of football to watch.

Best players for Coly were Jack Mitchell, Nick Donnellon, Adam Boag, Kelvin Shaxson, Michael Rutledge and Jason Clarke.

Goals went to A Noack (2), J Mitchell (2), J Rowe and K Shaxson.

The under 17s had a close encounter, leading the match

going into the final quarter after a big third quarter effort from the boys.

However, Henty was kicking with the wind in the final term and overran the Blues boys to register a 68-52 win.

Best players were Zac Smith, Corban O’Malley, Jack Smith, Sam Casey, D Gilbert and C McFadyen.

Goalkickers were Z Smith (5), D Gilbert , A Noack and J Smith.

This week is the final game of the home-and-away season for the Blues.

The team travel to Albury to play the Murray Magpies.
