A FEW weeks a go a group of eager children and parents
set out on the Coleambally Auskick trip to Melbourne for a weekend full of activities with the fun starting on Friday night.
The children and parents’ first event for the weekend
was the Collingwood versus Essendon match at the MCG.
After a day spent kicking the football around, the excited group headed to Etihad Stadium on Saturday night for the Geelong versus Western Bulldogs game.
At the half-time break 28 excited Auskickers took to the playing arena (with 11 proud parents) to face their opponent Hay.
In the little league match, the Coleambally boys wore the Geelong colours, while the Hay boys donned the Western Bulldogs colours.
Meanwhile, in the grid game children played in red and black jumpers at the northern end of the ground, under the shadow of the goal posts.
The children returned to their seats after the game sporting broad smiles after enjoying the experience of playing in front of a big crowd and are now eagerly awaiting the next trip in two years time.
Many thanks to AFL-NSW, especially Paul Habel, for organising the trip and allowing our children to play at such an excellent venue.
Thanks also to Mick Breed for his work in organising the trip.
Auskick would like to thank MIA Rural (Brett Hay) for
purchasing the new goal posts for the local Auskick this year, they were well used throughout the season.
Also a big thank you to Tim’s Meats for supplying the Friday night barbecues during the season.
The Auskick breakup will be on Sunday, September 5 at the Coleambally Stadium.
