DPC proves too slick for Yenda

02 Jul, 2008 10:57 AM
THREE weeks ago the girls went down to the top side 6-2.

This was a very pleasing result considering the stiff competition.

Jess Painting and Jess Burns were the try scorers on the day with those two both amongst the best players for the day, along with Alysia Hopwood, Cindy Bootes and Jodie Grieve.

The game against West Wyalong was a different story and the girls were very disappointed with themselves. They had trouble keeping the ball and making any ground at all.

Hannah Kelly scored the only two tries for us, earning the best and fairest award.

The final score was West Wyalong 5 to DPC 2.

Last Sunday at Yenda the team played its best game, showing good ball skills and trying out moves learnt at training.

This paid off with a great try set up by Jess Painting to Alysia Hopwood, who took off quickly to score a runaway try.

DPC had a 3-0 lead at halftime, much to Yenda’s disappointment.

Alysia then scored another good runaway try down the sideline. Her athletic skills are paying off as she becomes more determined each week.

Georgia Young scored the last try of the day with a good run down the sideline to put the ball in the corner.

The supporters were very pleased to see the girls play so well.

Players player and best and fairest went to Alysia Hopwood. Claire Chauncy played well as did Cindy Bootes.

The whole team was outstanding, according to coach “Scuba” Steve Knight.
