THE COLEAMBALLY Central School netball team progressed to the third round of the Combined High Schools (CHS) knockout with a one-goal victory over Kooringal High.
After smashing Hillston by 60 goals in the round one clash, the girls knew they were going to be in for a tougher second round match.
In a see-sawing affair, both teams shot goal for goal in the early stages, with Kooringal leading by four at the half-time break.
The third quarter belonged to Coleambally, as the girls fought back from a six-goal deficit to draw level by the final break.
They then hung on to defeat Kooringal side 36-35 in a nail-biting finish.
Brianna Clark stood out again as centre for the locals, while Elle Harrigan was effective as wing defence in the second half.
Hannah Carroll shot well up front alongside Claire Chauncy, while Paige Evans and Jess Noack were highly effective when needed in defence.
Hannah Kelly shone around the court with many good intercepts, while Ash Painting worked well with Brianna Clark throughout the match.
Tamika Shaxson was also an effective contributor at various stages in the first half.
The girls will now progress to play Deniliquin High in round three of the CHS knockout.
The same squad of girls look forward to travelling to Dubbo in August to play in the state finals of the Central Schools Knockout.
The girls won the state titles as an under 16 team last year, and will now go to play in the open division this year.
