Women on the ball

23 Jul, 2008 02:15 PM
LAST Tuesday the women golfers played in the monthly medal competition, with Barb Harrop the eventual winner.

Fay Schliebs closely followed Barb to come in runner-up and the ball competition was won by Edna Gready and Marg Naseby.

Edna Gready won the drive and chip, Anne Leonard was the lucky winner of the raffle and Rosemary Hutchins won the nine-hole competition.

Tuesday will see the commencement round of the championships.

Four Coleambally Junior Golfers travelled to Deniliquin on Monday, July 7, to participate in the second round of the school holiday 4 BBB stableford tournament.

The boys, all extremely keen, played well, but unfortunately due to a thunderstorm were forced to call it a day.

From the results that came in, the winning junior of the day was Ali Parker from Corowa.

We hope to see more Coly juniors attend the next round at Wagga RSL on October 6.

Saturday, July 19, saw the Coly mixed open. Twenty-four players attended, with Ken and Carolyn Martin winning the event. The next day the men’s open tournament was held, with 70 players attending.

Lindsay Watt won the A Grade championship for the second consecutive year with Ken Martin, Geoff Carson and Grant McMillan being Coly members who also won trophies.

Thanks to the many sponsors who supported the day.
