LAST Friday the Coleambally Community Club hosted the eighth annual greenkeeper’s day tournament, with 16 teams attending from the local area as well as Hay, Darlington Point, The Rock, Jerilderie, Barellan, Griffith and Leeton.
Each team played two games of 12 ends with a great day had by all.
Overall winner was the Leeton and District Bowling Club team, which took home the shield.
The hard luck prize of the day, which was donated by Baiada Poultry, went to the team of Alan Knight, Lucy Gurciullo and Mary Catina, from Jerilderie.
The winners of the drawn prizes, which were donated by the greenkeeper’s family, were Jim Bisset, from Hay, Colin Stewart, from The Rock and in the lead was Ian Sutherland, from Coleambally.
Resting touchers were won by Kevin Coster, Rowan King, Wayne Woods and Russell Hutcherson and wrong bias awards went to Peter Green, Phyllis Green (2), Pam Jukes, Helen Clark and Dickie Irvin.
There were also a number of raffle prizes donated for the day from De Bortoli Wines, the greenkeeper, Greenline Farms, SunRice and MIA Rural.
After the great success this year, next year’s date has already been set and the tournament will be held on Friday, May 6.
