Wins and losses at Urana

11 Aug, 2010 12:40 PM
The Coleambally Netball Club travelled to nearby Urana to play against the Billabong Crows on Saturday.

The Netta team started off the day with a very good effort, but were up against an older group of girls.

It was great to see the girls concentrating hard on what they had to do to win the ball, as it wasn’t coming to them easily. The award this week went to Grace Tooth.

Thank you to Kim Mannes for umpiring.

The Mods did not get a game again this week, so are very keen to play their last game next week and will want to do well and avenge their one-goal loss last time they played Henty.

The Juniors continued their tough run home, again playing a finals contender.

The girls played one of their better games of the past few weeks, combining well at times, but were well beaten by the intercepting skills of their opponents.

The standout players were Alicia Hudson and Megan Hayes. Thank you to Maddie Mannes for umpiring.

In C grade the girls had a great win with 40 goals, their highest score for the season. The girls played with confidence and moved the ball around the court with improved accuracy.

The win was a great reward after a difficult season as some of the girls are still finding their netball feet. The standout players were Ali Painting and Di Kelly. Thank you to Paige Evens for umpiring.

The B grade gals got off to a flying start and looked to be in with a real chance, until the last quarter, when their opposition went on to score a big win.

Positional changes were not enough to contain the girls from BB Crows. For most part, the Coly girls looked sharp and poised. Standout players were Kim Clark and Charmaine Buchanan. Thanks to Shona Hando for umpiring.

The A grade side had its third consecutive win and was ecstatic with the result. Again it was another pressure game with just three goals in it.

The girls reaped the benefits of finishing off a game with the same focus they started it with.

They are a great combination to watch and it was a well-deserved win.

The standout players were Megan Posselt and Kate Jones. Thanks to Kim Mannes for umpiring.

Next week the club hosts Henty and will be looking to perform well in its last home fixture of the season.
