THE Coleambally Netball Club made the long journey to Albury last Saturday to take on the Murray Magpies in the last game of the season.
The Nettas had a great game and took advantage of their skills and confidence to outplay the little Magpies.
It is pleasing for their coach to see the girls display a full four quarters of teamwork. Winning the game was an added bonus.
The award this week went to Shayne Scott. Thank you to Ali Painting for umpiring.
The club would like to remind all Net-Set-Go, Netta, Mods and Juniors of the presentation day to be held on Sunday, September 5 at the Coly No 1 Oval from 11am with lunch to follow.
The football club’s under 17s, under 14s and Auskick will also be presented with their awards.
The three senior grades were all playing teams which were looking to improve their positions in the top half of the finals race.
C grade showed a confidence in themselves and each other that was not there at the beginning of the
season.
The girls have suffered some substantial losses during the season but never gave up.
They have all worked hard to improve their individual skills.
The standout players were Melissa Donnellan and Rebecca Boag. Thank you to Tamika Shaxson for umpiring.
B grade had an excellent first quarter but then the Magpies showed why they are one of the top teams in the competition.
The Coly team had a disappointing season given that they were so close to winning on a number of occasions.
The standout players for the week were Paige Evans and Jasmine Painting. Thanks to Kate Jones for umpiring.
A grade battled hard all game but was no match for the Magpies, who obviously deserve their position in the finals.
The game was played in excellent spirit and the local girls should be pleased with their efforts for the season.
They have played their hearts out each week but with little to celebrate.
The standout players were Lauren Pound and Kate Jones. Thank you to Kim Clark for umpiring.
The club would like to remind all players and supporters that the presentation night will be held with the football club on Friday, September 24 at the community club.
