Training, safety target for event

19 May, 2010 03:03 PM
THE Coleambally Pistol club was excited to host its first major event at the weekend following its recent reformation.

A lot of work had gone into the range and the club was happy to welcome international handgun shooting coach and Level 3 trainer Jan Ryan.

Mrs Ryan was joined in Coleambally for the weekend by NSW Amateur Pistol Association executive director Rob Boutcher.

The pair conducted Level O coaching and safety trainer courses.

Coleambally Pistol Club members, and those from pistol clubs in Griffith, Booligal and Finley spent a rewarding two days with Mrs Ryan and Mr Boutcher learning all they could about safety and coaching, and best practice for introducing new members to the sport.

Mrs Ryan led all the course participants through best shooting techniques and safety practices and gave everyone helpful tips along the way.

Everyone who participated had a lot of fun and said it was a worthwhile course to help them and their clubs.

The weekend was also a great opportunity for locals to meet people from other clubs around the district, to share information and views on the future, with many making plans to visit other clubs in the near future.

For anyone interested in

pistol shooting, the Coleambally Pistol Club shoots every Monday night at 6.30pm. Please feel free to come along and try out the sport.
