On November 27, two teams came together for the grand final of the Coleambally Tennis Clubs Spring competition.
Five teams of eight people played 12 weeks of tennis culminating in the play-off.
On the dark and often windy night, Matosevics and Ebdens fought it out to find a champion.
It started out as a fairly uneven match with the Ebdens taking three out four games.
Matosevics fought back winning the next two and suddenly it was three apiece.
It remained even for the rest of the night, coming down to the last game.
Matosevics Neill Wilkinson and Diana Burge finally got over Ebdens John Culleton and Daniel Whittred 6-4, with Matosevics claiming victory by two games.
In other games, juniors Tom Mannes and Angela Rainbird did their team proud by winning 6-1 over Clair Robb and Nathanael Goudie.
Celeste Erasmus and Tara Pound also got up over Donna Wiseman and Chris Robb in a close match.
Trevor Lashbrook and Adrienne Wilson were beaten by stronger opponents Mitch Wiseman and Linda Goudie.
Everyone appeared to be thoroughly enjoying their tennis.
The night finished with presentation of trophies and supper.
Over the 12 weeks the juniors all improved their games with Tom Mannes receiving the junior encouragement award.
The tennis committee would like to thank all those committed to their tennis who turned up early every week and set up the nets etc, coached the juniors when required and cleaned up at the end of the night, much appreciated.
The next Tuesday night competition will commence in mid-February 2012.
