McGuire in talks with Fox

01 Nov, 2011 02:00 AM

EDDIE McGuire could emerge as the face of Fox Footy next season, with talks expected to resume this week on luring him to the pay television broadcaster.

McGuire has been in discussions for three months about a possible shift to Fox Sports, which next season will bring back Fox Footy - its dedicated AFL channel.

This move comes as Network Seven has expressed interest in retired forward Barry Hall joining its interstate coverage, with weekly matches featuring Sydney and Greater Western Sydney televised into a market he is known in.

McGuire's major contract with Channel Nine expires next year, although it is understood that he could be seen on both networks, provided he was only to work for Fox Sports and not any of Foxtel's general interest channels that are in competition with his shows on Nine.

Fox Sports will broadcast all nine AFL matches per round next season, including a triple-header on most Saturdays.
