Rice, who is sponsored by Leeton-based company SunRice, was in Leeton for a meet and greet with local
kids last Wednesday and an impromptu swimming clinic.
Coly Central School year 3 pupil Millie Rossato was one of the kids lucky enough to come face to face with her idol.
Millie, 7, is a promising freestyler who recently competed at the Albury zone carnival.
“Millie was very excited about the prospect of meeting her and she had seen her competing at the Nationals on TV,” Millie’s mum Kylie Rossato said.
“She (Rice) looked amazingly fit and spoke really well. I think she appeals to some of the younger girls because she looks like a model.
“After meeting her, Millie told me she now ‘might
consider’ becoming a professional swimmer when she’s older.”
Fittingly, Kylie and husband Michael have been growing rice on their property, “Binda”, for 19 consecutive seasons.
