Mr Graham was given the award for his involvement with the Coleambally Football Netball Club as well as captaining the local fire crew and helping with St Peter’s School board.
“I’m humbled and flattered,” Mr Graham said.
“I thought I’d be the third horse in a three-horse race.
“The few organisations I’m involved with are full of good people so I’m lucky.”
Joshua Fattore from Coleambally Central School was named Young Citizen of the Year at the ceremony held at John McInnes Square.
Joshua is a peer-support leader at the school and helps lead younger participants in the Duke of Edinburgh Awards scheme. In addition to playing for Coleambally-Darlington Point in Rugby League he coaches the under 9’s team and assists with other grades as well.
“I just try to help as much as I can,” Joshua said.
“I didn’t expect the award, it’s a real surprise.”
Bruce Lamont, former president of the Coleambally Community Club, was given a lifetime achievement award as was Brian and Helen Kelly.
Mrs Kelly encouraged young people to seek opportunities to help out around the community.
“We can all contribute even if it’s by doing one small act,” she said.
“This is a ‘we’ world not a ‘me’ world.”
Mr Kelly thanked the people of Coleambally and said without them there wouldn’t be a town.
“It’s been years of hard work and good times,” Mr Kelly said.
