It takes a brave soul to walk into the Brolga Hotel and ask to do the ‘dirty bird burger challenge.’

In the 12 months since the challenge was added to the menu, the record (for fastest to consume) has been broken five times by famous names such as Joe Briggs, Shawn Iddles and most recently Dozer Kerr.
Now down three minutes and 59 seconds, the task is just that much harder.
“The time's getting down and especially now that it starts with a three, it's just so daunting for people,” The Brolga’s Morgan Jones said.
“I've had quite a few kids who see the board and say they want it and I just have to tell them 'honestly, you're not going to eat it’.”
Made up of beetroot, lettuce, tomato, double cheese and bacon, onion rings, a 400 gram meat patty and topped off with smoky barbecue sauce, it’s certainly a mouthful.
“You need to size it up first, you need to know what you're up against,” The Brolga’s Daniel Griffiths said.
“Sometimes when people first see it, they just go 'woah’.”
He said usually one or two people have a go at the burger every week.
Some come close to the record, most do not.
“They finish it and sometimes they can finish some of the chips, but rarely all them,” Griffith’s said.
“Blokes need something hearty.
“It's just a bit of a gimmick I guess.
“Come to the Brolga and smash out a dirty bird.”
Despite their close proximity to the beast, none of the staff at the Brolga have had a crack at the record.
“We just know how big it is,” Griffiths joked.
Something like this doesn't just happen overnight though.
“When I first did it I used normal onion but it was too messy,” Griffiths said. “We thought about normal sauce but we figured you need something a little different.”
