Five former Murrumbidgee Shire and four former Jerilderie Shire councillors have been appointed to the Local Representation Committee (LRC) which will meet for the first time on June 21.
Murrumbidgee council administrator Austin Evans said the purpose of the LRC was to provide advice to the administrator on local views and issues.
“Some of those matters include input into the operational plans for Murrumbidgee Council for the next two financial years,” he said.
“Providing input into the vision and priorities for the new council and engaging with communities and stakeholders in planning our new local government area.
“These former councillors have demonstrated their commitment to their communities and the overall success of the new council and I look forward to working with them to put the framework in place to create an organisation that delivers the services and facilities our community needs.”
The chair of the LRC will be Ruth McRae, former mayor of Jerilderie, and deputy chair is Phillip Wells, Murrumbidgee Shire Council’s former deputy mayor.
Other members of the LRC are Robert Black, Robert Curphey, Christine Chirgwin, Gavin Gilbert, Terry Hogan, Gaila Smith and Faith Bryce.
That wasn’t the only change to the working structure of Murrumbidgee Council
Murrumbidgee Council’s deputy general manager, Phil Pinyon, announced last week he has accepted an appointment as the chief executive officer of Loddon Shire in Victoria.
Mr Pinyon, who has been based at the Darlington Point administration office since late January this year, said he was enthusiastic about undertaking the new role at Loddon.
“My wife and I are looking forward to living in Wedderburn (near Bendigo) and becoming part of the local community," Mr Pinyon said.
While his time in Murrumbidgee was short, he said it was enjoyable all the same.
“Our time at Darlington Point and working with the broader Murrumbidgee community has been enjoyable and rewarding and I have particularly appreciated operating with a supportive and committed group of councillors and staff,” he said.
“My new role will offer a range of fresh challenges and opportunities and provide longer tenure.” Mr Pinyon will commence in the role at Loddon Shire on July 4.
