Roosters fans who turned out to the home game would no doubt have been shocked with the end scoreline.

They fell 22-8 to a Yanco Wamoon Hawks outfit who had just one win on the season up to that point.

Early on in the game, neither team looked up to scratch, as dropped balls and penalties kept the referees busy.

It was the visitors that struck the early blow.

Hawks winger Peter Poole was able to find some room and got himself over the line in the corner.

Joden Wallas was doing the hard yards for the Roosters in the middle of the park as they looked to claw their way back into things.

It wasn’t long before the scores were level.

Some quick thinking from Simon Fuller saw him scoot over from dummy-half for the score.

Neither team would add to their totals as they went into the break locked at 4-4.

Seven minutes into the second half, Chris Latu was forced from the field with what looked like a corked leg.

Just two minutes later and the Hawks were back in front, 10-4. The Roosters were struggling to get any momentum going as the clock slowly ticked away.

With 18 minutes to go, they were given an opening as the Hawks had a player put in the bin for 10.

Fortune didn’t favor the Roosters and it was the visitors next on the scoreboard.

The Hawks made a break down the wing and just a couple plays later were in to extend their lead to 12.

The Roosters continued to fumble the footy as they gifted the Hawks good field position.

The visitors didn’t need field position to score their next one however.

Off a scrum on their own 20, the Hawks kicked down-field on the first play to a flying Wade Williams who picked it up on the run and never looked like being caught.

Josh Knite ran in a late consolation try for the Roosters to bring the final score to 22-8. The Roosters sit third on the ladder.
