This momentum didn’t last long though.
Despite coming up against a Yanco Wamoon Hawks side that sat above them on the ladder purely on for and against, the DPC team were outmatched from the start.
The Hawks got off to a flyer thanks to some good ball movement and quick legs in the middle of the park.
Most of the damage done by the Hawks was through Tess Staines.
She ran in four tries on the day, most of which came off lengthy line-breaks.
It wasn’t all bad news for DPC though.
Alysia Hopwood was solid at fullback, even accounting for a few line-breaks of her own to leave the Hawks scrambling.
The other standout performance was that of Bree Coelli.
On more than one occasion, the speedster ran down a Hawks breakaway.
In the end they were beaten 38-0, but the side never dropped their heads and fought until the bitter end.
This week the challenge doesn’t get any easier for DPC.
They’ll travel to Wade Park where they’ll take on a Yenda side coming in off a tough two point loss to competition front-runners the Leeton Greens.
The Roosters currently sit in 8th place on the ladder, two points ahead of Tullibigeal Lakes United.
They’re also equal with the Waratahs Tigers, but just behind on for and against.
