Committee member Jeanette Burnett said it was great to the gym succeed.
“We started off thinking 'oh well, we'll just give it a go, we don't really know if it's going to work or not’,” she said.
“We've got approximately 50 people joined up already and now we're coming up to our next six month contract membership so we're hoping we get even more people.”
For a gym powered by membership fees, they certainly have added to their list of equipment since they started up in early 2015.
“We've got two new treadmills, two new cross-trainers, a rower, what they call a GHD – which is not a hair-straightener, it's another way to do sit-ups” Ms Burnett joked. They also have a new lat pull-down machine.
They’re not planning on stopping either.
“We're also hoping to expand the area of the gym only because we just don't feel there's enough room,” Ms Burnett said. “Sometimes when we do have classes here you can get in each other's way so hopefully if we can get more members, we'll get more machinery and we'll keep expanding.”
The gym is also holding a couple of open days soon and invite any and all to attend. The open days are on June 17, 3.30pm to 5.30pm and June 25, 10am-midday.
