The visual navigation took participants via Finley and Cobram with thirty odd cryptic questions.
A wide range of vehicles varying from a Clubsport, Landcruiser Wagon to a turbocharged Datsun 180B took to the track, none of which could be called performance vehicles.
The group proved you don’t need a fast or expensive vehicle to have a wicked amount of fun.
Participants spent most of the morning on the concrete skid pan as they performed some motorkhana events with varying degrees of success. Having fun was the goal of the day and they certainly achieved that with the ultimate failure of participants on the skid pan providing onlookers with continuous entertainment.
They soon took to the race track. They had installed two quite severe chicanes in the fastest parts of the track to slow maximum speeds to a comfortable level.
The race track was not a familiar environment for most of the drivers, however after a few laps the testosterone kicked in and all drivers had an absolute ball. After the day’s fun the group headed back to the Coly Club for a meal and presentations
The winner on the day turned out to be the VY Monaro which is only ever driven on weekends by a yet to grow up grandfather, with Thomas Hardy in his mother’s car coming second (he drove it very carefully mum, that’s why he finished second).
The event was all made possible by the generous sponsors for the day, Jacko’s Excavations, Straw.com.au, DG Spraying, Coly Automotive and MJD Carpentry and a big thankyou to Sue Hardy who looked after the group and kept everyone fed.
They plan on running the event again next year for the Coly Club however maybe with a slightly different format.
