Both third grade fixtures were played at Jubilee Oval with Coly knocking out the highest score of the day.
The side was sent out to bat first against Leagues and the top order wasted no time accumulating runs.
Openers Tom Bowditch (42 retired not out) and Cooper Smith (9) put on 36-run opening stand.
Smith fell before Tom Greenaway (2-11) snared two wickets to reduce Coly to 3-54.
Chris Hayes (45 retired not out) quickly shifted momentum back in Coly’s favour.
Then, lower order flurries from Tom Fattore (22), Tooth (10) and McKinnon (10*) helped the run rate tick along.
Adding to Leagues’ woes was the side’s bowling effort.
Leagues’ bowling let the side down as the bowlers conceded 33 extras including 24 wides.
At the end of the innings, Coly posted an imposing total of 5/178 off their 20 overs.
Whilst Leagues lost less wickets than Coly, the side’s scoring wasn’t up to scratch.
The all-round performance from Hayes made the real difference as his performance with the bat continued in the field.
He came out, opened the bowling and only went for two runs from his two overs.
Opener Snaidero made a dent in the total to score 11 runs but just one other batsmen was able to get into double figures.
Greenaway top-scored with 15 runs as Coly bowled tight lines to restrict the scoring rate.
Leagues ended its 20 overs at 4-66 and no Coleambally bowler went for more than five runs per over.
Along with one run-out, three separate Coly bowlers took a wicket each.
Tom Fattore (1-6), Tim Hayes (1-7) and Buchanan (1-5) all snared crucial wickets.
The only issue the Coleambally bowlers had was with their radars.
They bowled 20 wides but it didn’t matter in the end.
The win puts Coleambally at the top of the third grade ladder after the opening round of the competition.
The side sits just ahead of Hanwood who also scored a dominant victory.
Like Coleambally, Hanwood batted first and put on a mammoth total.
Hanwood put on 4-165 against Exies.
Exies proved no match for Hanwood who won by 85 runs in the end.
Coleambally will have a week off with the bye next round. The junior cricketers will return to the field the following week then they take on Hanwood.
