It was good to see them ride their luck and get some runs
- Exies captain, Phil Burge
Burge (46) opened the batting with Marc Tucker (35) combined for an first wicket stand of 54 before Tucker fell to Hanwood’s best bowler on the day Brendan Hicken (5/51).
“It was good to see them ride their luck and get some runs,” Exies captain Phil Burge said.
“To have that start and then bowl them out the way we did was pleasing.”
In reply, Hanwood was never really able to find solid ground with a constant loss of wickets.
Andrew Arnold (6/27) and Winkler (3/4) were at their destructive best and never took the foot off the pedal.
Hanwood’s only resistance came from Hicken (19) as his side was bowled out for 59.
Coleambally’s second grade side wasn’t as fortunate as they fell to their second loss of the season in their game against Hanwood.
It look like it was always going to be a tough day at the office as the Michael (38) and Ryan (84) McWhirter combined for a first wicket partnership worth 60 runs.
Despite the best efforts of Shaun Iddles (4/24) in claiming constant wickets it was the wicket of Ryan McWhirter they were unable to claim until the final ball of the innings and were set 160 to chase.
The Coly innings got off to a rocky start when Michael Hodgson (1) fell to the bowling of Shannon Caughly with the score on one.
Ryan Mannes (4) and Josh Shaw (19) who looked to get the game back on track.
However, Shaw and Mannes fell in quick succession which brought Simon Mackie to the crease needing to perform a captain's knock.
Ryan McWhirter (6/17) returned ripped through the rest of the Coly batting order.
When Mackie finally fell for 59 to the bowling of McWhirter which closed the innings Coly were still behind by 57 runs.
Third grade returned to winning ways with a four-wicket win over Exies.
Coly were on the front foot early taking five quick wickets with Jack Cullen (6/20) doing all the damage.
If not for Caleb Redman, Connor Bock (22) and Aditha Jayasuriya (16) Exies would have found themselves in a much worse position finishing their innings on 112.
Coly’s chase got off to a rocky start losing Hannah Clark, Jack Watts and Cooper Smith for ducks.
A match saving partnership between Chris Haynes (46) and Cullen (15) saw the side go from 3/12 to 4/73 when Hayes was dismissed.
Sam Breed (18*) and Jack Buchanan (10*) got the side over the line with four wickets and seven overs to spare.
