The former Eagles midfielder is finding form at exactly the right time backing up a five-goal performance a fortnight ago with 20 plus possessions and two goals in the wet in Tasmania last Saturday.
The Bushpigs’ take on East Wagga-Kooringal.
“The first couple of weeks was a struggle because I hadn’t played competitive footy in a while,” Kerr said.
“I played forward and kicked five two weeks ago, then last week I got 20-odd touches and kicked a couple of goals in the wet.
“My form has slowly been getting better and it’s just been a matter of working out a happy medium between the time I spend up forward and through the middle, without tiring too much.”
The Bushpigs led for large parts of last Saturday’s loss to Temora, in encouraging signs for the club, before eventually going down by five goals.
Adding interest to Friday night’s showdown, EWK will be looking to bounce back from their first defeat since June last year.
Kerr is not expecting too much flak from his Hawks opponents.
“Not really, the footy public has been pretty good,” he said.
“The teams I’ve played, a couple of teams have played me pretty tight and I’ve copped a few whacks but nothing dirty or anything like that.
“I’ve had a few funny comments from the crowd but that’s footy and it’s all good fun.”
A change in flights means Kerr will arrive in Wagga on Friday and he is looking forward to his first visit.
“It’ll be my first time as a Bushpig...Ricky (Nixon) and I had a chuckle about the name,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to coming to Wagga, I idolised Wayne Carey since I was a kid so...I’m expecting a good game of footy given it’s such a sporting town.”
