GRIFFITH assistant coach Will Griggs has taken the outright lead in the Riverina League’s Player of the Year award.

Griggs landed four out of a possible six votes for his best-on-ground display against Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong on Sunday.

Griggs edged one vote clear of last year’s winner, Collingullie-Glenfield Park’s Jayden Klemke, who polled three votes in the Demons’ win over Coolamon on Sunday.

Griggs moved to 16 votes and Klemke is on 15. The pair are well clear of Leeton-Whitton’s Tyh Evans, who sits third on nine votes.

In the Farrer League, North Wagga midfielder Lachlan Highfield polled five votes in the Saints’ win over Coleambally to maintain his lead.

Highfield sits on 16 votes, three clear of CSU livewire Rob Herzfeld.
