ITV News' Alastair Stewart was conducting a serious interview about milk allergies when the subject's younger sister went rogue, much to the delight of viewers.

Stewart tried to ask George Wronka, sitting with his mother Lucy, about milk allergies as Iris Wronka, 2, tested her climbing skills on the studio desk.

The news veteran appeared to know where things were heading as he introduced the segment with: "And right at the front, the delicious Iris, who will do whatever she chooses to do over the next couple of minutes."

Indeed, Iris made multiple attempts to scale the desk as her mother and brother looked on uncomfortably.

The scene was reminiscent of the hilarious BBC interview with South Korean political expert Robert Kelly that went viral when it was interrupted by his two children.

Just like Professor Kelly's daughter Marion, young Iris was determined to be part of the action.

Even after the interview wrapped up, Iris continued her quest, eventually making it to the top of the desk.

Having stayed calm during the entire interview, Stewart joked about the scene as he said goodbye to viewers of the lunch-time bulletin.

"Mary Nightingale, I think, will have a more peaceful time at 6.30pm. From all of us, a very good afternoon to you," he said staring straight down the camera.

Viewers saw the funny side of the situation with many tweeting about the segment.

Stewart's colleagues also saw the humour, congratulating him on his handling of the interview.
