SEPTEMBER is bringing some exciting events to the Western Riverina area, beginning with Warangesda: Deep Waters at the Narrandera Arts Centre. The exhibition is the result of a year-long project based on the Warangesda Mission at Darlington Point, in which local Wiradjuri artists spent time at the site developing new artworks which are included in the exhibition. Relics from the mission and historical information are also included. Warangesda: Deep Waters had a successful showing at the Griffith Regional Art Gallery in July, attracting over 1300 visitors, and is expected to be just as popular in Narrandera. The exhibition will be open to the public from Thursday, September 14 to Sunday, September 24 (excluding Mondays), opening times: 11am to 4pm.

POETS and creative writers from the region are being asked to express their interest in performing at the Riverina Poetry Slam Night on Friday, September 15. This event is an initiative organised by Leeton High School students who are taking part in the Get Set Youth Frontiers Mentoring Program, under the guidance of Penny Davies. The theme of the event is Empowering Young Women, it will be held at the Leeton Library and is part of the Festival of Audacious Ideas. Contact rivpoetryslam@aol.com.

PART-scholarships are still available for Off the Beaten Track’s drama workshops taking place at the Griffith Regional Theatre, September 25 to 27. The workshops will be facilitated by graduates of the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) and are designed for 12to 18 year olds who are serious about becoming actors.
