While entrants won’t be finalised until later this week, the current crop of nominations look to bring fresh blood to the race.
The Cup features a six race card, with $15,000 in prize money available for the winner of the big race.
Race Club President Des McRae is looking forward to the big day.
“The people of Jerilderie look forward to welcoming everyone throughout the new Murrumbidgee shire, as well as our new neighbours a to enjoy a first class race track,” he said.
“We have terrific nominations for great racing.”
There will be plenty of fun both on and off the track at Sunday’s Jerilderie Gold Cup
The Cup will also host fashions on the field. Spread across six categories, plenty of prizes are up for grabs.
The categories are:
- Miss Racegoer (aged 16 – 25)
- Classic Lady of the Track
- Man Of The Track
- Lady of the Track (25 years and over)
- Most Stylish Couple
- Millinery Award
Jerilderie Race Club President Des McRae said Fashions on the Field would provide great on-site entertainment for all.
”I’m sure the fashions on the fields with $3000 in prizes will keep everyone enthralled between the second and fifth races,” Mr McRae said.

Each winner will receive $500 in cash prizes, bringing the day’s total to over $3000.
Race Club Secretary Alecia Williams said that previous years had set a high standard.
“Fashions on the Field has come a long way over the years and is now hotly contested with many visitors and judges over the years remarking how impressed they are with the standard,” she said.
“This year should be no exception.”
Adding to the festivities will be on-course bookmakers and TAB on-course betting for both local and interstate races.
Hot food and children’s entertainment will also be available with snow cones and a free jumping castle on site.
Gold Cup day will play host to the Race Club’s major fundraiser, allowing for the improvement and upkeep of track facilities.
Winners of the fundraiser will be drawn the day after the races, with first prize worth $2000.
Gates will be open from 11am until 7pm. Tickets are $20 per person, with those under 17 getting in free.
