Following on from another successful crowd funding campaign, the beer, which is locally-grown and community-owned is being bottled once again.
Produced with locally-grown Barellan barley, the town’s residents and the wider community are just days away from getting their hot little hands on the brew, with the famous Grain Ale now back in stubbies.
Barellan Beer project co-ordinator Stuart Whytcross was pleased the small community had once again gotten behind the brew
“Barellan Beer was made possible by the support of our community in our initial crowd funding campaign,” he said.
“It made perfect sense to use the same approach to pre-sell the packaged beer.
“We’re a small not-for-profit organisation.
“Pre-selling the beer helps mitigate the risk in what is quite a big step for us.”
The goal behind the most recent initiative was to pre-sell enough beer to warrant a minimum bottling run.
“Three days into a 45-day campaign, we reached our goal,” Mr Whytcross said.
“(This was) thanks to our supporters who have jumped on board ordering anything from a six-pack to a pallet.”
The group behind Barellan Beer has produced more than 12,600 litres of the brew since the project first launched three years ago.
They have also sourced barley from five different Barellan farmers.
“This has been entirely in draft (keg) form and served primarily at the source in our town,” Mr Whytcross said.
Many residents would be familiar with Barellan Beer, which has been served at a number of events during the past three years, including Leeton’s Chill and Grill festival.
The package beer will be available in time for the Barellan Working Clydesdales Good Old Days Festival, which will be held in the town from September 30 to October 1.
Anyone wanting to purchase the beer should visit www.barellanbeer.com.au to pre-order their beer before September 28 or risk missing out.
