The council met for the first time in Jerilderie last Thursday, where Cr Robert Black was also appointed Deputy Mayor.
Mayor McRae is honoured to have been elected to the top job.
“I am humbled and proud to have been chosen as Mayor,” she said.
“The new Murrumbidgee Council has a team of experienced Councillors at the table committed to making our Council the best it can be.”
The new council sees a host of old faces return.
Now divided into three wards, three councilors representing each district. The uncontested ward of Jerilderie will be represented by the new mayor, as well as Faith Bryce and Gaila Smith.
Coleambally will be represented in the Murrumbidgee East Ward by Christine Chirgwin, Robert Black and newly announced National’s Candidate for Murray Austin Evans.
Following the September 9 election in Darlington Point, Murrumbidgee ward will feature former councilors Phillip Wells, Robert Curphey and Gavin Gilbert.
The three councilors were selected from a pool of six.

Mayor McRae said that the new council was a union of three diverse towns.
“We have three unique communities and we need to encourage and promote the different products and services and collectively market our Council footprint as a desirable location of choice for industry and business development,” she said.
The new Murrumbidgee council has listed digital coverage, water supply and road safety as top priorities for the new administration.
Newly-elected Mayor Ruth McRae says the new council will aim to grow infrastructure and opportunities for the local community.
“It is vital that we continue to advocate for equitable and affordable access to essential services for our community into the future,” she said.
“I’d like to see a greater opportunity for Local Government to become the preferred contractor in the delivery of services across roads, health, welfare and education.
“There is a lot to be done, but I am sure that as a team we can achieve great things.”

Murrumbidgee General Manager Craig Moffitt congratulated the new council on it’s appointment.
“The first meeting of the Murrumbidgee Council is a significant moment,” he said.
“I congratulate Mayor McRae, Deputy Mayor Black and all of our new Councillors. This is an exciting time for Murrumbidgee Council.”
Going forward, meetings will be held at 10.00am on the fourth Tuesday of every month.
The next meeting will take place in Darlington Point on Tuesday October 24.
