Exies won the toss and elected to bat and Craig Burge (6) and Michael Shepherd (36) lifted their side to 12 before Burge fell to the bowling of Craig Lugton (1/31).
The fall of the first wicket brought Winkler to the crease and alongside Shepherd put their heads down with a 62-run partnership.
When Shepherd fell to the bowling Jason Hampel (1/16), Alex Tucker came to the crease with a run-a-ball seven before he was trapped in front by Ben Watts (1/16) to have the side sitting at 3/85 after 20 overs.
With half of their innings still in front of them Exies were looking to build on their foundation, and with Winkler and Duane Ashcroft (20) at the crease, they looked to make the most of the conditions.
Ashcroft fell to the bowling of Trevor Richards (2/29) but not before the pair put on a partnership of 56 got the side to 141 with eight overs remaining.
Marc Tucker (3) joined Winkler and boosted the side to 153 before Tucker became Richards second victim of the day.
Winkler and Andrew Arnold (12*) put together a quick fire 36 to see Exies finishes their 40 overs on 5/187.
Diggers made a positive start with Dom Brown (22), and Daniel Peruzzi (3) put on 17 for the first wicket before Marc Tucker (2/45) dismissed Peruzzi.
Brown and Theo Valeri (28) put their head down and looked to get their side moving towards the target.
The pair put on 14 runs before Brown became Andrew Arnold’s (2/23) first wicket to leave the side at 2/31.
Diggers struggled to make a meaningful partnership and while Brown and Valeri were able to get a start they were unable to stick around as Richards (9) was stumped before Tom Valeri (6) fell to Alex Tucker (2/32) to have the side at 4/58.
Stability was found as Valeri and Jason Hampel (63) as they were able to put together a potential match-defining partnership.
After a stand of 45, Valeri became Marc Tucker’s second victim, but it did little to slow the momentum for Diggers.
Ben Watts (24) came to the crease to join Hampel to get the side to within 34 runs of victory with 12.3 overs remaining.
The fall of Watts after he was trapped in front by Connor Bock (2/28) it spelt the end of Diggers resistance.
Simon Miller (0) and Luke Peruzzi (0) fell an over apart before Hampel, and Leon Vico (0) fell in successive deliveries to bring their innings to a close on 169 to give Exies an 18-run win.
