Murrumbdigee Council carried out maintenance work on Bore Number 1 at Darlington Point while also ramping up the search for a suitable consultant.
The issue of water quality was first flagged back in march, when e.coli bacteria was detected in the town’s water supply.
The most recent sample results released on Tuesday, 7 November indicate Total Chlorine 0.99 mg/L and Free Chlorine 0.64 mg/L.
Previously, NSW Health and NSW Department of Primary Industries-Water have requested that the Darlington Point water supply be chlorinated to the following standards:
- Minimum free chlorine level 0.2 mg/l – at furthest point in the network
- Minimum free chlorine level 0.8 mg/l – at the water tower
- Maximum free chlorine level 5 mg/l *
Murrumbidgee Council General Manager Craig Moffitt said ongoing work would involved regular sampling.
“A gas chlorination injection system is planned for installation at the earliest possible opportunity in due course following system review by the consultants,” he said.
“We are currently working with the NSW Health Department to secure the services of the suitably qualified consultant from the Department’s panel of accredited service providers.”
Council say they will complete the community updated as further testing is completed.
